Alzheimer’s Services offers an array of programs and services to support those affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in the Greater Baton Rouge area.

Our programs and services are complimentary unless otherwise noted.

Educational Programs

Lunch-N-Learn

Lunch-N-Learn is a monthly virtual education series designed for individuals living with dementia, care partners, and healthcare professionals. Each session features expert-led presentations on a wide range of topics on dementia and dementia care, offering practical strategies, current insights, and meaningful support for participants.

Making Sense of Cents

Making Sense of Cents is a free, three-part virtual financial literacy workshop designed for care partners and individuals living with dementia. Across the series, participants explore essential topics such as financial resources, health insurance, estate planning, and how to recognize and prevent financial abuse and fraud.

The Adapt Series

The ADAPT Series is a multi-part education series focused on adaptive approaches to caregiving for those with dementia. These presentations will support and educate on relatable and practical modifications to everyday care. Each presentation provides 1 Social Work CEU.

Resource Library

The Resource Library offers a wide range of up-to-date and relevant materials on topics such as disease education and supportive services. Resources are available for people living with dementia, care partners, healthcare professionals, and social workers in-person, by mail, or electronically.
AlzServ & All3CPs Side by Side Purple

36 Hour Day

This book offers care partners a thorough guide to Alzheimer’s disease/dementia, covering care needs, behavioral and communication challenges, long-term planning, end-of-life care, and other essential topics. Complimentary copies are provided to those within Alzheimer’s Services service area.

Dementia Risk Reduction

The Dementia Risk Reduction Education Series is designed to help individuals understand and implement strategies to lower their risk of cognitive decline. While dementia cannot always be prevented, evidence suggests that adopting healthier lifestyle habits and managing certain risk factors can significantly reduce the likelihood of developing the condition. This series focuses on practical, research-based approaches to maintaining cognitive health and delaying potential disease progression.

Dementia Care Trainings for Nursing Homes

Trainings teach tips and strategies in redirection and behavior modification to increase nursing home staff’s knowledge and skills to serve residents in a person-centered care environment.

Annual Education Conference

The Annual Education Conference is a one-day learning event for people with dementia, care partners, and healthcare professionals, featuring expert speakers and up-to-date information on best practices in dementia care.

Support Programs

Care Partner Support Groups

Trained support group leaders facilitate caring, non-judgmental meetings where families and friends share their experiences and learn essential information for coping with the disease.

Helpline

The Helpline connects you with trained staff who can provide guidance on dementia, community support, and helpful resources. Assistance is available by phone, email on in-person.

MedicAlert + Safe Return

MedicAlert + Safe Return™ is a 24-hour nationwide emergency response service for individuals with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia who wander or have a medical emergency.

TLC for Care Partners

TLC for Care Partners offers care partners and their loved ones living with dementia a chance to relax, have fun, and connect with others in a supportive, stress-free, and caring environment. This event typically includes a themed lunch and social!

Respite Reimbursement

Funds reimbursed to care partners for costs incurred to employ a sitter while care partners get a few hours of respite.

Arts and Alzheimer’s

Arts & Alzheimer’s offers welcoming, dementia-friendly art experiences for individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Participants are invited to explore creativity, express themselves, and connect with others in a supportive and dementia-friendly environment.

Brain Cafe (for those living with brain change)

Navigating life after a dementia diagnosis can feel overwhelming–but you are not alone. Our Brain Cafe group offers a space where you can connect with others on a shared journey. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been living with dementia for some time, this group is here to provide connection and community every step of the way. Share experiences, exchange practical tips, and find encouragement in a respectful environment. All stages and backgrounds are welcome.

Sip & Support

A comfortable and conversational space for grieving former Alzheimer’s care partners.

Care Partner Book Club

The Care Partner Book Club meets monthly to read and discuss books in a welcoming, supportive environment fore care partners. Through shared stories and conversation, participants gain insight, encouragement, and connection with others who understand the caregiving journey.

Alzheimer's Awareness Month

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. Each year Alzheimer’s Services provides support and education through the 10-parish service area through various programs: Fall Festival for those with dementia and their care partners, Making Sense of Cents sessions providing financial literacy for care partners, along with Memory Screenings in each parish.
