Navigating Through the Holidays
Leah Daly, MPH, CHES
Holidays can be joyous, but they can also be challenging for individuals with Alzheimer’s or other neurodegenerative diseases. Changes in routine, like children Trick-or-Treating or fireworks on the 4th of July, can be disorienting. This presentation will cover common U.S. holidays and their impact on those with neurodegenerative diseases, along with potential triggers, and how to adapt celebrations to better suit their needs. Remember, while celebrations may change, they can still be special and enjoyable.
Leah Daly is the Education Program Manager at the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. She received her MPH from Columbia University and her Bachelors of Science in Environmental Public Health from the University of Michigan. She’s been featured on numerous television, radio, and online news platforms discussing Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disease. She’s passionate about creating educational programming that is informative and compelling to any audience, no matter the topic. She’s worked in education, community capacity building, and public health for over a decade. She especially enjoys creating and facilitating trainings for the community.
