Development Associate (Walk & Volunteer Coordinator)

Reports to the Development Director    

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Development Associate manages the logistical planning, data collection, sponsorship, and implementation of the Walk event hosted by Alzheimer’s Services, the Volunteer Program, and coordination of the informational sessions. The position works in great detail with the organization’s donor and event planning database.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the logistical planning and data collection for the Walk to Remember and other events (such as Volunteer Appreciation and Free Feel Good Events) determined by supervisor.  Assist in the implementation of the events along with volunteer committees and appropriate staff.  Collaborate with appropriate staff on budget     planning and evaluation of the event.  Manage the website for the Walk to Remember.
  • Coordinate Volunteer Program. Include tracking, coding, implementing/coordinating volunteers, holding regular orientations and nominations for Volunteer Awards in the community.
  • Work with the organization’s comprehensive donor database along with the Development Director and Public Relations Coordinator.  This includes gift entry and acknowledgement for contributions, sponsorships, in-kind donations and payment for services or trainings as assigned.
  • Assist with the management of the donor and volunteer cultivation process utilizing the organization’s fundraising model (Benevon) and the software tools available.  Coordinate logistics of informational sessions (lunches, set up and clean up) invite and follow-up with prospective participants, and volunteers by scheduling informational sessions  through phone calls, notes and emails to ensure attendance at all functions
  • Work with the organization’s comprehensive database along with the Development Director.
  • Assist Development Director with the implementation of the organization’s Strategic Plan.
  • Oversee mailings (including bulk mailings) related to the position.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree required. Fundraising and event planning experience preferred.  Ability to manage a vast amount of details with accuracy.  Ability to relate to people across a broad socioeconomic, demographic and professional background.   Proficient in Microsoft Office internet and database management.  Valid driver’s license, with good driving record, reliable transportation and appropriate insurance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • The position is entry level, full time, non-exempt.
  • Hours of work will vary somewhat; the nature of this job will require some evening and weekend hours.
