Event Details

The 27th Annual Education Conference: Strategies for Improving Quality of Care will be held virtually on April 14-15, 2021 from 9 AM – 1 PM both days.

Keynote speaker, Elaine K. Sanchez, will be speaking April 14 on Finding Hope, Humor, & Heart in Caregiving: Seven Strategies for Caregiver Survival.  Based on her own experience of caring for family elders, Mrs. Sanchez developed a passion for helping others cope with the emotional stress of caring for family elders. She frequently delivers keynotes, workshops, and caregiver training sessions at caregiving and healthcare conferences, as well as to business organizations across the U.S. She is the author of the unflinchingly honest and surprisingly funny book, “Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver.”  She is the co-founder of CaregiverHelp.com, a video-based caregiver support website. She writes blogs and articles for numerous magazines and online publications, including the Caregiver Blog on her website, as well as the Huffington Post.  With her husband, Dr. Alex Sanchez, Elaine has developed several online continuing education courses for nurses, long-term care administrators, social workers, and mental health professionals. She is also approved by Washington State DSHS to deliver training to long-term care workers in the State of Washington.

Speakers for April 15 include:

Neila J. Donovan, PhD, CCC-SLP, Associate Professor, Rehabilitation Science, Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders at LSU.  Dr. Donovan will be speaking on using music and memory to increase interactions and decrease agitation in people with dementia.

Karen Stobbe and Mondy Carter, a husband and wife improvisational duo with personal caregiving experience, will share how to use the rules of improvisation to break through conventional caregiving techniques and open new worlds for persons with dementia.
